Safety

Our reputation as a company depends on providing participants with a safe adventure in NZ.  This is a responsibility Little Brown Kiwi takes very seriously.  Safety is a Little Brown Kiwi priority.

New Zealand has earned the reputation of Adventure Capital of the World.  Its natural environment lends itself to host many exhilarating and adrenaline pumping activities.  What makes NZ such an attractive destination is that each and every activity must comply with the highest industry and government regulated safety standards.  Little Brown Kiwi then takes the next step in assuring each and every activity included on its itineraries is an industry leader in safety and exceeds all regulations.  LBK does this by completing a thorough Risk Analysis on the contractor and the activity.  This includes viewing the necessary documentation, researching operating history, visiting the contractor at their site and completing a safety audit.  Little Brown Kiwi also completes a R.A.M.S (Risk Analysis Management System) for every activity. This is part of the documentation given to the school before the trip departs.  Finally, Little Brown Kiwi staff accompany participants on all aspects of the trip to ensure that these standards are met and exceeded at all times.

When there is the need for medical assistance or evacuation, LBK has the infrastructure in place to ensure this happens instantly and smoothly.  New Zealand has excellent medical care and LBK has instant access to Doctors and Hospitals at all times on every trip. Our itineraries are designed to ensure that we are always within 30 minutes of these services.  A complete list of our closest hospitals and contacts at each location will be given to both the trip leader and to the School, before the trip departs.   In an emergency situation, we have access to air evacuation if needed.

Little Brown Kiwi employees are fully trained in Red Cross First Aid and Wilderness Emergency First Aid.  The Director of LBK is experienced and qualified in International Risk Assessment and has visited and accredited every activity included on our itineraries.  Our staff will be contactable by parents/school 24 hours a day and the trip leader is also provided with a hand phone for emergency contact.

“New Zealand has always been considered a great destination for a safe trip and this has now been confirmed by Wanderlust readers, who have just voted it the World’s Safest Country.”
